Aquascaping / Shoreline Restoration

Shorelines hold an important part in the health of an aquatic system. Protected shorelines keep plants and debris from tumbling into the water, filter nutrients from storm runoff, and create a protective buffer between the land and the water. Over the years, the shoreline can deteriorate, causing the water to become polluted and unhealthy for its inhabitants.

At Allied Biological, Inc., we can restore eroded shorelines to stabilize the bank, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the landscape, act as a barrier against waterfowl, and provide habitation for birds, amphibians, and other wildlife. We also specialize in designing and installing native aquatic plants within the littoral zone of lakes. These plantings reduce wave rebound off shorelines, absorb nutrients from the water column and provide habitat for fish and smaller aquatic creatures.

We use only natural geotextile materials that blend with and meld into the landscape for our stabilization and aquascaping projects. Our stabilizing mediums include coir and barley straw logs that provide a solid base for plants to grow on, as well as limit erosion. We design and install only native, non-invasive aquatic and transitional emergent plantings. When erosion is restricted, the flow of nutrients to harmful submerged weeds and algae is also restricted, keeping your ecosystem healthier and visually pleasing.
