Acceptable projects are proposals to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of aquatic invasive species or aquatic nuisance species from waterbodies or wetlands in New York State.
  • NYSDEC Terrestrial Invasive Species Eradication Grant- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will provide State assistance funding through reimbursement for projects to eradicate terrestrial species identified as being invasive within the boundaries of New York State. Acceptable projects are proposals to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of terrestrial invasive species.
  • Pulling Together Initiative - The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Pulling Together Initiative (PTI) provides a means for federal agencies to partner with state and local agencies, private landowners, and other interested parties to develop long-term weed management projects within the scope of an integrated pest management strategy. The goals of PTI are: (1) to prevent, manage, or eradicate invasive and noxious plants through a coordinated program of public/private partnerships; and (2) to increase public awareness of the adverse impacts of invasive and noxious plants. PTI provides support on a competitive basis for the formation of local weed management area (WMA) partnerships, allowing them to demonstrate successful collaborative efforts and develop permanent funding sources for the maintenance of WMAs from the involved parties. Successful projects will serve to increase public awareness and interest in future partnership projects.
  • NJDEP Division of Watershed Management 319(h) NPS Grant- New Jersey is authorized to be granted funds through section 319(h) from the USEPA due to its approved Nonpoint Source Assessment Report and Nonpoint Source Management Program. These funds are to be used to implement programs and projects designed to reduce nonpoint source pollution.
  • NYSDEC- Water Quality Improvement Projects- Under the Environmental Protection Fund, New Yorkers have worked together to restore, preserve and protect our state's valuable environmental resources by funding Water Quality Improvement Projects (WQIP). The Department periodically issues a call for projects, evaluates applications, and ranks projects for funding under the WQIP process. Funds are used for projects that demonstrate direct environmental benefits that will help reduce polluted runoff, improve water quality, and restore habitat in New York State waters.
  • US Army Corp of Engineers Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration (CAP Section 206) - Work under this authority may carry out aquatic ecosystem restoration projects that will improve the quality of the environment, are in the public interest, and are cost-effective. There is no requirement that an existing Corps project be involved.
  • USEPA Five Star Grant Program –The Five Star Restoration Program brings together students, conservation corps, other youth groups, citizen groups, corporations, landowners and government agencies to provide environmental education and training through projects that restore wetlands and streams.
