Grant Information
- Constellation Energy EcoStar Grants - "Environmental stewardship is one of Constellation Energy's foundational values. The EcoStar Grant program was launched in January 2010 to support environmental projects in five stewardship categories: pollution prevention, education and outreach, energy efficiency, conservation and community activism. The 2010 EcoStar Awards supported 62 projects in 14 states, ranging from urban gardens and wetland restoration projects to innovative programs promoting energy efficiency and improved air quality, among many others. These grants represent another step that we are taking to link our employees with the communities in which they live and work."
- American Water Environmental Grant Program - "American Water state subsidiaries are now accepting applications for the 2011 Environmental Grant Program. Participating states will award grants of up to $10,000 to support diverse types of environmental sustainability activities such as watershed cleanups, reforestation efforts, biodiversity projects, streamside buffer restoration projects and hazardous waste collection efforts."
- Westchester Community Foundation (serves Westchester County, New York) - "In 2010, the Westchester Community Foundation distributed nearly $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations in Westchester. While most funds distributed by WCF are awarded based on donor interests, nonprofit organizations may apply for grants awarded through a competitive process from unrestricted funds in several designated categories and special initiatives. The Foundation continued to award safety-net grants in 2010. It also awarded competitive grants in the following categories: The Arts, Health, People with Special Needs, Community Development, and The Environment."
- Nature Hills Green America Awards - "The Nature Hills Nursery Green America Awards will be presented annually to groups and organizations that are making a difference in their communities. We are looking for community groups who are committed to improving their local environment by planting trees, bushes and shrubs to make their communities a better place to live."
- Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation - "The Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation is dedicated to improving the communities we serve through support of public education, community improvement projects and home safety initiatives."
- NYSDEC Terrestrial Invasive Species Eradication Grant- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will provide State assistance funding through reimbursement for projects to eradicate terrestrial species identified as being invasive within the boundaries of New York State. Acceptable projects are proposals to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of terrestrial invasive species.
- Pulling Together Initiative - The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Pulling Together Initiative (PTI) provides a means for federal agencies to partner with state and local agencies, private landowners, and other interested parties to develop long-term weed management projects within the scope of an integrated pest management strategy. The goals of PTI are: (1) to prevent, manage, or eradicate invasive and noxious plants through a coordinated program of public/private partnerships; and (2) to increase public awareness of the adverse impacts of invasive and noxious plants. PTI provides support on a competitive basis for the formation of local weed management area (WMA) partnerships, allowing them to demonstrate successful collaborative efforts and develop permanent funding sources for the maintenance of WMAs from the involved parties. Successful projects will serve to increase public awareness and interest in future partnership projects.
